The mission of the Eden Prairie Soccer Association is to

    “Teach kids the fundamentals of soccer in a non-competitive (intramural) setting, to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play, to encourage the participation of parents in their children's teams, and to provide a setting where learning about the game of soccer is fun and safe.”

Purpose

The purpose of this Association shall be to foster local (intramural) amateur sports competition in soccer, for the children of Eden Prairie. The Association shall not interfere with the Club or with the high school programs.

Goals

The Association will organize and supervise soccer activities for both boys and girls that encourage the development of a knowledge of the game, good sportsmanship and respect for the opponents and referees in youth soccer.

How Goals Are Achieved

  • By being a volunteer, nonprofit, organization for educational and recreational soccer purposes.
  • By encouraging and promoting the teaching, coaching and playing of soccer.
  • By fostering sportsmanship, team spirit and fair play.
  • By creating an opportunity for all children to play, irrespective of skill level, in a setting that places fun and learning ahead of winning.
  • By promoting community soccer involvement.
  • By being responsible for collecting and dispersing funds for the above purposes.
  • By cooperating with and abiding by the rules of soccer, the United States Youth Soccer Association and the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) as they apply to intramural soccer and by developing special rules to accommodate the enjoyment of youth soccer.

Objectives

Children and adults of the Association shall be governed by the desire to set good examples of sportsmanship and this shall take precedence over the desire to win. Members of the Association shall maintain the highest moral and ethical standards as an example to the children.

How the Objectives Will Be Met

  • By encouraging members to have fun by working together rather than under an adversarial relationship.
  • By teaching proper fundamentals including fair play and good sportsmanship.
  • By encouraging players and coaches to achieve their highest potential through effort and a knowledge of the rules.
  • By promoting esprit de corps, the Association's members will encourage personal growth, mental and physical conditioning and character building.
  • By installing responsible soccer principles and attitudes in the members of the Association
