Player Safety & Concussions

Player Safety
Player safety is of utmost importance to the Eden Prairie Soccer Association.  All of our coaches must go through a third party Background Check and pass a Concussion Certification Course.  The Association also participates in the Safekids Program, a nationally recognized program focusing on ensuring children, parents, guardians, referees, and coaches treat each other with respect and to watch for bullying, intimidation and unsportspersonlike conduct.

Concussions
Concussion Training is required for ALL coaches.  They must complete a course once every three years.  Parents and players are also encouraged to complete the concussion training or at a minimum review the Concussion Awareness Document below.  The Concussion Quiz below is the same quiz that Coaches must take to earn their certificate.  To learn more and for the link to the course, click HERE.  There is no cost to take this course.

If Your Child Is Suspected Of Having A Concussion:
If your child is suspected of having a concussion, the player should be pulled from the game immediately and not return.  The action plan for Coaches is to review the Signs the child is showing and the Symptoms the child is indicating they feel.  All children suspected of having a concussion are highly encouraged to take their child to a health care professional for assessment.  In addition, the below form must be read and signed by both the parent and player BEFORE the player can return to play soccer.
